- Ada Kruisbeek
- Is the Chief Scientific Officer of the Company. She is also CEO of DCPrime and is responsible for knowledge transfer of VUmc. Prior to joining VUmc, Ada was Senior Vice President Head of Oncology and Inflammatory Diseases of Crucell in charge of Crucell's antibody research. Before joining Crucell in 2001, Ada worked for 10 years at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam, first as chairman of the department of Immunology, and more recently as laboratory research coordinator for all research divisions. Between 1978 and 1991 she worked at the National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD (USA) in various senior positions. She is a Professor of molecular immunology at the Free University of Amsterdam.
- Catherine De Greef
- Is Operations Manager in charge of the supervision of the R&D and production activities. Catherine was trained in the techniques of immunology and molecular biology in the immunology department of VUB under the heading of Professors Van Camp and Thielemans since 1991. She helped develop the process of cancer vaccines based on DC. She joined the Company as Operations Manager in 2004. Catherine holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
- Gerd Johnscher
- Received a PhD in Biochemistry from the University Frankfurt (Germany) and is since January 2007 Senior Consultant with Pharmakon SA. Before, he built his industry career over more than 15 years with Hoechst AG (Germany) in immunological Research, International Clinial Research and Regulatory Affairs and finally Strategic Planning for global Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs. He continued for 3 years managing Business Development, Clinical development and Regulatory Strategies for Biotech and Japanese compagnies with Besselaer (now Covance). Over 15 years with UCB SA he built and managed CNS Development, Regularoty Affairs, Drug Safety, Quality Assurance, Medical Affairs and HS&E, the last 3 years as Senior VP. He also developed the anti-epileptic drug Keppra and brought it through approval at FDA and EMEA.
- Gilles Capart
- Is the Managing Director of BruCells and has managed the Company since incorporation. Until June 1999, Gilles was Vice President of Investments and IP of the UCB Group, a worldwide chemical and pharmaceutical company headquartered in Brussels. Gilles has managed Sopartec, the seed capital and knowledge transfer company of UCL and the seed capital fund VIVES. He has also served as Chairman of ProTon Europe, the pan-European network of Knowledge Transfer from Public Research. Gilles holds a PhD in Physics and a Master in Business Administration.
- Lieven Straetman
- Joined BruCells as process engineer in June 2006. From 2002-2006 he worked in the physiology/immunology department of VUB under the heading op professor Kris Thielemans where he was trained in the field of immunology and cellular biology. He worked on the development of cancer vaccines based on the modification of DC making use of RNA-electroporation. He holds a master degree in Biomedical Science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
- Nancy Veulemans
- Joined BruCells as in-house consultant in Regulatory Affairs in 2005. She is Managing Director of the consultancy firm 4C Partners specializing in regulatory and clinical affairs since 1997. Prior to that she was Associate Director, Clinical operations Europe at Clintrials Research Europe, International Clinical Research Associates, Oncology-Hematology at Bristol Myers International and Product Manager Oncology at Cyanamid Benelux. Nancy holds a M.Sc. in Bio-Engineering and Biotechnology from University of Louvain.
