BruCells SA/NV, the Belgium based therapeutic vaccine cancer company, announces that it has received from the US Food and Drug Agency (FDA) an Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) for its drug development product BCL005 for the treatment of grades IIb to IV in HLA-A2 positive Melanoma patients.

The principle of therapeutic vaccines is to trigger the immune system of cancer patients to recognize and destroy cancer cells by presenting tumour specific antigens.

BruCells SA/NV, the Belgium based therapeutic vaccine cancer company, announces that it has entered into a material transfer and option agreement with Etablissement Français du Sang (EFS) for an exclusive license on the cell line GEN, which can be used to generate plasmacytoid dendritic cells. The preliminary in vitro tests indicate that this cell line can also be used in the production of functional hybrid therapeutic vaccines, with potentially superior properties over products based on the more common myeloid DCs.

BruCells SA/NV, the Belgium based therapeutic vaccine cancer company, announces that its capital has been increased from 2.362.580 Euros to 4.362.580 Euros by issuing new shares to Biotec SA and to existing shareholders BI3 and Brustart. The proceeds will be used to fund the pharmaceutical and preclinical development of dendritic/tumour cell fusion vaccines against lethal forms of brain cancer and kidney cancer.

BruCells SA announces that it has received notification from the European Patent Office under Rule 51(4) of EPC that the patent application EP 96 911 493.3 shall be granted. The corresponding US patent application is still pending before the USPTO.
